Plant type: Live tropical aroid houseplant grown for its sculptural foliage.

Growing location: A warm indoor position with bright, indirect light; protect from frost and cold draughts.

Alocasia Venom turns the familiar arrow-shaped leaf into something wonderfully sculptural. Dark, glossy blades taper into long points, with rippling margins that twist and curl around a pale framework of veins. Its dramatic contours give the foliage an almost otherworldly presence.

Part of the cultivated Amazonica group, Venom is distinguished by the architecture of its leaves. Upright petioles lift each blade away from a central thickened stem, leaving space to appreciate the sweeping edges, elongated tips and contrast between dark green and pale venation.

Growing Venom is a chance to watch that form develop. Simpler juvenile leaves give way to more pronounced contours as the plant matures, bringing increasing depth and character to its silhouette. It is a striking choice for collectors drawn to unusual foliage and the sculptural possibilities of living plants.

Plant Care Guide:

Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. A well-lit position supports steady growth and shows off its glossy surface; filter strong direct sun to protect the leaves.

Water: Keep the root zone lightly moist, allowing the surface to begin drying between waterings. Water thoroughly and let excess water drain away. Adjust the interval to how quickly the pot dries, watering less often when growth slows.

Humidity: Aim for around 60–80% with gentle ventilation. Consistent humidity supports developing foliage, particularly while new leaves are opening.

Temperature: Enjoys steady warmth around 18°C to 27°C. Keep temperatures above 15°C and choose a position sheltered from cold draughts and chilly winter windowsills.
